In a heartfelt interview with Concussion TV, Derek Sheely’s father and mother, Ken and Kristen, talk about Derek, THE DEREK SHEELY FOUNDATION, and what parents need to know about concussions. They warn parents that “concussion” is a watered-down term for brain injury and discuss the need to break down the stigma of reporting concussions. They encourage parents to make informed decisions by becoming aware of the signs, symptoms, and dangers of concussions, including the fatal but preventable Second Impact Syndrome, which is when you sustain a second concussion before you recover from the first concussion. The July 28, 2012 interview can be viewed here.
